Zanzibar Police College

Dar es Salaam Police Academy formerly known as Police College Dar es Salaam was established in 1961. It is situated at Kurasini along the Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam about five kilometers from the city Centre, it cover an area of about 10 acres.

 

The academy is highly ranked Training Institution within the Tanzania Police Force designated to offer both academic, promotion and proficiency programmes to Police Officers and other safety and security agencies from within and outside the country, it has the capacity to enroll up to 500 students police officer and civilian from different within Tanzania main land and Zanzibar per year in different training programs designed to develop and train officers in specific areas so as to prepare personnel who can assume leadership roles within the Force and sharpen their capabilities to discharge their responsibilities as related to the preservation of peace and maintenance of law and order in the society.

The Academy is a full registered training institution by NACTE since October 2009 with a registration Number REG/PFW/032 and has two NACTE registered courses namely ordinary diploma in Police Science NTA Level 6 and the Basic Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology program – NTA Level 4 the first batch 2018/2019 and Technician Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology Program – NTA Level 5 this academic year. Apart from those programmes the institution offers other police training programs including Police proficiency program and Short tailor-made security program

 

Following the Police cooperation under the umbrella of SARPCCO and EAPCCO   in combating crimes within the region, the Dar es Salaam Police Academy has been promoted as East African Countries Center of Excellency for Public order Management programmes and Promotional Programmes.

As a modernized police training institution we expect to furnish with highly refined information and communication technology, training material infrastructures including accommodation, teaching infrastructures and recreation centers.

Quality Assurance and Quality Control

The Academy has developed a quality assurance and quality control mechanism in alignment with the force’s quality management model based on the NACTE for quality management model of excellence. Quality assurance and quality control are built in the entire training process and involves all training needs as per training programmes. Instructor training is also enhanced such that all new instructional staff is mandated to attend instructional skills training immediately upon their transfer to a training post and serving instructors are to follow continuing professional development programs during their entire tenure with the Police Force training institutions.

2.0 THE ADVISORY BOARD

 

Tanzania police Force in June, 2012 appointed an advisory board to oversee the training operations of all its training institutions. The first advisory board was inaugurated by inspector general of police on 03rd July, 2012. The advisory board members serve in their positions for a period of three years before termination of the board tenure. The Advisory Board has currently a total of fifteen (15) members including the commandant of PDA.
